Give Up - Fill Up - Give Out!
Fleta R. Robinson
The Christian life is meant to be a life of giving – but giving to God comes first.
Anxieties about oneself and situations, disapproval of others with accompanying self-pride, these must be given – but to God. Allow Him to empty out what is unlike Him. Give Him our willingness to be freed from a critical spirit, from disbelief, and wrong attitudes. Believe it or not, He accepts these raunchy "gifts"!
A cleansing takes place that creates a unique emptiness God delights to fill "with joy unspeakable and full of glory!" Circumstances may change, they may not, but "in His Presence is fullness of joy."*
Are you worried, depleted, overcome by physical illness, or overwhelmed by problems that seem too big to solve? Does bitterness nibble at the edge of a relationship? Give it to Almighty Sovereign God, and allow Him to fill you – with Himself,
– with His amazing grace
– with His love and peace.
Do that this very day.
Only then can we live a life of true giving to others
"Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor . .
.
and have not charity [cherishing others] it profiteth me
nothing."
(I Corinthians 13:3 KJV)
