The Scent of Christ
Mary has been here!
Fleta R. Robinson
It was near the end of Jesus’ human life here on Earth.
Jesus went to a supper prepared for
Him in Bethany (where He had raised Lazarus from the dead.)* Lazarus took his
place at the table with Jesus. Martha served.
Mary took a container of expensive perfume and anointed Jesus’ feet. She
then dried His feet with her hair. The whole dinner party was affected by this
action, for the Bible says the fragrance filled the entire house.
Only when Mary gave to Jesus her most prized possession, poured out upon Him, did the aroma also envelop herself. She gave her best to Jesus, but the scent also lingered on Mary.
What should be our strongest desire? It should be to have the living Presence of Christ saturate our very being; so much so that when we are with others they can sense the aroma, the fragrance, the unmistakable “scent” of Christ Himself.
“For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ . . .” **
May it be evident this very day.
* John 12
** II Corinthians 2:15 (KJV)

May the fragrance
of Jesus fill this place
. . . lovely fragrance of Jesus, rising from the
sacrifice of lives laid down in adoration.
May the beauty
of Jesus fill my life
. . . perfect beauty of Jesus, fill my thoughts, my words,
my deeds, my all I give in adoration.
