Uplift His Name!
by Chaplain Jim Robinson

The birth of Jesus Christ has forever placed a fulcrum upon which all history totters. It is inevitable that now and forever (as long as time is measured) that we shall look at Christmas – the day we celebrate the birth of God’s Son Jesus, the Christ – as the turning point in history. We use BC and AD to consistently establish historical dates.

All the attempts (of what appears to be a conspiracy) to take Christ out of our Christmas celebrations shall ultimately fail. It may not be a conscious human conspiracy, though in many instances it certainly seems to be, but rather it is planned and utilized by Satan himself against God. Human beings become mere tools in the cosmic war.

Newspapers report government (public) school "Holiday" concerts. Not long ago they would have used the word "Christmas" in both the announcements and the concerts. Currently, not so. Many public schools carefully avoid the words "Christ," Christmas," and "Jesus."

We who are part of the Body of Christ, Christians, unfortunately become involved in some of those situations. For example, a Christian student in a public school may be a member of the choir. The group performs for a Holiday (i.e. Christmas) event and being "politically correct," no Silent Night, Holy Night,

Joy to the World the Lord is Come or other Christian carols are sung. Should the Christian student responsibly discuss this? I think so. Would participating in such an event be taking the Lord’s name in vain? Think about it. Would it be an opportunity to give witness to the prime event in human history – Jesus Christ’s birth? Absolutely! These Godless events demean our Savior.

Pastors, youth leaders, Sunday School teachers, and most importantly, Christian parents, please take a consistent stand for Jesus Christ, and encourage and support your youth and children to do the same, even when it costs to do so.

Brothers and sisters, let us resolve to think through these practical issues of every day living. May we never neglect to pray for students whatever their ages and methods of education: government (public) schools, Christian schools, homeschools.

Let us celebrate Jesus’ birthday with reverence rather than revelry. Let us put the emphasis on giving in His Name to those actually in need, rather than personal receiving.

"Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Matthew 25:40 (NKJ)

Most importantly, let us give ourselves to Him. And having given ourselves to God may we NEVER take His Name in vain, but let us stand up and acknowledge Him as Savior, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
